David Briggs is a freelance director who specializes in making premium factual documentaries for broadcast television and streaming services around the world. His 3-part series 'Rendezvous with the Future' (Bilibili) exploring the science behind the international science-fiction bestseller The 3 Body Problem with Chinese author Cixin Liu was winner of the GZDOC Golden Kapok Award for 'China Story: Best Documentary Series' and was watched by a combined audience of more than 80 million. His feature-length documentary 'Hubble: Thirty Years of Discovery' (BBC / Discovery Science / Xigua Video) telling the story of the Hubble Space Telescope and featuring interviews with acclaimed astronauts Mike Massimino and Story Musgrave was nominated for the 2020 World Congress Of Science & Factual Producers Awards and 2021 BANFF World Media Festival Rockie Awards. Most recently, he directed an episode of the Chris Packham series 'Earth' (BBC / PBS) using state-of-the-art CGI to tell the story of the last 66 million years from the end of the dinosaurs to the present day. Broadcast in 23 countries, the series is nominated for the 2024 BANFF World Media Festival Rockie Awards.
