Mr, Cole better known to the family as "Orme" was born in 1912 in Los Angeles to Gorgon Orme Cole Sr. and Eva. After graduating from UCLA in 1934 he worked various production companies including Paramount Studios. He married Frances Kalb in 1945 and died in Long Beach, Ca. on 8-17-1990. Among his movie credits was The Ten Commandments, War of the Worlds, and Mclintock.

His father (Gordon Sr.-a mining engineer) was born in Lovelock, Nevada to Omer Vanderlyn Cole (a surveyor) and Jesse Gordon both from Portsmouth, Ohio, who produced two sons, he and Robert J Cole Sr. His mother was Eva Olivia Johnson. His mother lived with Frances and Gordon Jr. until her death in 1969.
