Born in Zagreb, on 8th May 1942. He completed his primary and secondary education in Split. In 1963, after graduating at Faculty of Economy in Zagreb, he went to Paris where he graduated from Dramatic Arts College Charles Dullin at Theatre National Populaire - T.N.P. (1965 - 1969). In Paris, in 1967 he worked for Lee Strasberga, art director of Actor's Studio from New Yorka, and during his student years he worked as an actor and assistant director to the theatrical director Michael Cacoyannis (T.N.P. - "Les Troyennes" by J.P. Sartre, 1966), to the TV director Abel Ganceu in a serial about Paris Commune (O.R.T.F. -1966) and to the film director Med Hondou ("Soleil O" - 1969). Since 1973 he made more than 200 films of different genres.In theater, he directed a drama by Tihomil Mastrovic; "Pjesnikova kob" (HNK "Ivan pl. Zajc", in Rijeka - 1995).
