Selina Ringel's most recent feature film which she wrote, produced and stars in, SINGLE MOTHER BY CHOICE , is streaming on HBOMax. It's a hybrid narrative film with doc elements that tracked her actual pregnancy in real time during the 2020 pandemic. She also directed a short documentary A VIABLE LIFE , that tracks the making of this film and how the pandemic changed her feature and her life which is also streaming on HBOMax. She is an award winning Writer, Producer & Comedian. Selina is Mexican/American and grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is also Jewish. She has collaborated with incredible talent including Issa Rae ( INSECURE) , Lee Aronsohn ( TWO AND A HALF MEN), Salvador Paskowitz ( AGE OF ADELINE). Selina was recently selected as one of twenty upcoming emerging Latino creators for the Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today program sponsored by HBO & The Academy. Her first feature film THE BEST PEOPLE which she wrote & produced was picked up by Samuel Goldwyn Films and got distributed worldwide, in the U.S. it is now available on Amazon Prime & Tubi. THE BEST PEOPLE also won the Special Jury Award for BEST COMEDY feature at WorldFest Houston and was the Closing Night film at Dances with Films. Selina also wrote, produced & starred in an eight episode comedy series called TUNING IN which is also now available on Amazon Prime. Selina is in the Groundlings program, she performs stand up regularly at clubs including the Improv, The Ice House and The Comedy Store. Her feature film screenplay #LIKEME was recognized by many script competitions including The Teen Movie Contest by Issa Rae & Paul Feig - Top 4 FINALIST, The Black List & Women in Film Competition - FINALIST and others. Selina graduated with a Masters in Fine Arts from the Producing program at the AFI Conservatory in 2014. She is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian. She and her husband run their own production company, TWO HANDS PRODUCTIONS.
