Norman was born in Paddington, London in 1938 the youngest son of Mary
and Edward Gunn and younger brother of Edward Gunn.
Norman was one of a young group of post war Actors who started his career on stage as part of director Joan Littlewoods theatre company.
He had a talent for singing and playing piano, as well as guitar.
Norman starred with Barbara Windsor, Glynn Edwards, Yootha Joyce, George Sewell, James Booth and others in the West End production of 'Fings ain't wot they used T'be' in 1960 at the Garrick Theatre,London.
In 1961 Norman was given his first screen role in 'The Wind of Change' alongside the legendary actor Donald Pleasence. The younger stars of the film featured Johnny Briggs {Mike Baldwin of Coronation Street, Angela Douglas {from the Carry-On films} who played his girlfriend in the film and David Hemmings {Last Orders, Gladiator}.
