2017 OSCAR ödüllerinde İsveç adına yarışan filmde, 59 yaşındaki Ove (Rolf Lassgård) mahallenin huysuz ihtiyarıdır ve birkaç sene önce kat mülkiyeti dernek başkanlığı görevinden de azledilmiştir ancak bunu hala kabullenmemekte ve mahalleyi bir demir yumrukla yönetmeye devam etmektedir. 43 senedir çalıştığı işinden de çıkarılmasının ardından bir sene önce vefat etmiş eşi Sonja’yı (Ida Engvoll) daha fazla düşünmeye başlar ve “onun yanında olabilmek” için kendini öldürmeye çalışır.
