İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nın ortasındaki dünya kırılırken, küçük bir çocuğu anne babası daha güvende olabileceği uzak bir köye gönderir. Ama çocuk orada kalıcı olamaz, tek başına o köyden bu köye dolaşmaya başlar. Her köyde başka başka hayatlar tanır, başına gelmedik kalmaz. Soğuğu, açlığı, her türden şiddeti, acımasızlığı ve yalnızlığı tanır. O sırada tüm dünya sadece küçük çocuğa değil, var olan her şeye karşı merhametsizdir.

The film 8 Heads of Madness is about the eternal struggle between the artist and external circumstances, the artist and her demons and longings. 8 Heads of Madness is a drama woven from fragments of an appalling era. An unhappy cross-section of the 20th century in an unhappy country, as seen through the sensitive, perceptive vision of a poet.

They forbid her love, she gifts them with hate. They take her freedom, she makes them feel prison. They claim her life, she orders their death. A drama from the times when women were still almost lawless property in the hands of their men and when the right to love and freedom sometimes had to be redeemed by murder. The period story about love and killing was loosely based on the story of Nikolaj Leskov and is inspired by a real criminal case. The fine line between criminal and victim is explored in the performance of "Lady Macbeth from Újezd" by the actors of the Svanda Theater in Smíchov on their home stage.
