After the death of his brother, Bo Randall runs away to the woods, only to stumble upon another boy named Twig, thus sparking a manhunt between people of the town, Barcley and the police force as well.

In 1959, personal intrigue leads a journalist to a small North Carolina town to investigate a mysterious organization with roots as far back as the 18th century. The dealings of this organization are as much a mystery as the true identities of its members, each being named after a different color.

When two inmates, Lloyd "Bunny" Madison and a mysterious mute, escape prison, the Warden, mayor and their film partner pursue to hunt them down. Meanwhile, a retired cop, John Grover, goes after the case of the missing inmates for his own satisfaction.
