1920'de İrlanda'nın kırsal kesiminde yaşayan ikiz kardeşler Rachel ve Edward, evlerini değişik bir varlıkla paylaşmaktadır. Her gece ev şeytani bir varlığın etkisi altına girmektedir. Bu varlık ikizler üzerinde 3 kural dayatır; gece yarısında yatakta olmalılar, kapıdan içeri yabancı birini alamazlar ve eğer biri kaçmaya çalışırsa diğeri tehlikeye girer.
