Hector Malot’un en ünlü romanından uyarlanan filmde, Remi’nin maceraları anlatılıyor. Remi, her çocuk gibi mutlu bir aileye sahip olduğunu düşünmektedir. Akşamları onu öpüp yatağına yatıran, bir derdi olup üzüldüğünde kucağına alıp onu seven bir annesi olduğunu sanmaktadır. Fakat bu çok sevdiği kadın onun gerçek annesi değil; sütannesidir.
