In the lead up to the next great Kiddy Smile concert, diverse and passionate members of Paris’ glamorous ballroom community break down issues of race, immigrant culture, queer visibility, and free expression in a diverse but also deeply divided contemporary France.

Burn the House Down

This documentary follows the singer Kiddy Smile and his dancing friends, figures of the Parisian ballroom, following the national scandal after their performance during the Garden Party of the Elysée Palace. We immerse ourselves in their daily lives. All of immigrant origin and from the LGBTQI+ community, they assert themselves through their art in the fight against racism, homophobia and sexism. They dance to assert themselves, to free themselves, to assert themselves and to appropriate their identity.

A searing and timely look at the struggle against rampant discrimination in Nigeria today, as seen through the lens of several bold and charismatic, non-conformist youth who fight to live life out loud. Through social media, celebrity and creative expression, they spark a cultural debate that challenges the ideals of gender conformity and human rights in Nigeria.
