Private detective Hartwig Seeler receives an unusual assignment from his former colleague Tascha. The police officer fears the release of the felon Gerald Metzner, with whom she shares a traumatic memory: As a hostage, she spent 36 excruciating hours in his hands. To be safe from Metzner, Tascha wants to go into hiding with Seeler's help. She wants to start a new life on the Maltese island of Gozo - preferably with Seeler, for whom she has always felt more than a quiet friendship. For the ex-police officer, who has not yet come to terms with the loss of his wife Maria, the advances come completely unexpected.
